Gerry and I shared a birthday, January 21.  Once we learned that we had the same birthday we used to always write to each other to wish each other a 'Happy.' Gerry was a kind soul, who was a wonderful husband to his wife, Linda, and a terrific father to his daughter, Jessica.  His passing was so tragic.  Rest in peace, my friend. You will be truly missed by all of us from the Class of 1966.

Gerry (Bits) Kinney will be missed by all of us. His daughter Jessica lovingly called him Jabba. See you at that Big Irish Pub up in Heaven Gerry!

A full obituary will run in next Friday, FEBRUARY 18th edition of the Sullivan County Democrat newspaper. I’ll post the link once it’s online. It will be updated and run again closer to May.

More details will follow for the celebration plus we’re considering a mass in honor of dad either at Sacred Heart Church or locally.

For family/travel planning - closest Chain Hotel/Motel would be in Monticello, NY (30min drive) or Honesdale, PA (30min drive). Places like Middletown, NY or Scranton, PA, or Liberty, NY equally 45 mins-1hr away have more chain hotels available. There is a smaller chain of country hotels - Foster Supply Hospitality - that are much closer in proximity but price point is higher than others (they are worth it tho for high standards and quality). Callicoon Hills is also a great option as well and pet friendly.

Newark, NJ airport is also the easiest unless you’re more familiar with NYC options. There is an airport in Scranton, PA but it’s usually a bit more expensive to fly in to that location.

There is also an incredible network of Airbnb’s and VRBO’s in Sullivan County. Closest to us would be Narrowsburg, 12764.

Please travel safely at all costs.
